05/12 – Troop Meeting – Backpacking dinner prep & First Aid – We will be preparing Backpacking dinner for the May 14- May 15 EZ Backpacking trip. We will also be doing First Aid related activities.

05/14 – Backpacking to Boulder Creek Outpost – This is an EZ Backpacking trip from May 14 – May 15. We will be sleeping under the stars with no tent, only on top of a tarp and in a sleeping bag.

05/19 – Advancement meeting – You can get rank and some merit badge requirements signed off here.

05/26 – Troop Meeting – TBD, PLC to decide.


2016 Nuclear Science Day for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts

Ever wondered about light? Ever heard of cosmic rays? What’s so cosmic about them? Is radioactivity an activity on the radio?! Well, you’re gonna have a chance to satisfy your curiosity, because the troop will be going to the Nuclear Science Day for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts event at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, or Berkeley Lab for short! At this event, Scouts will learn the ABC’s of Nuclear Science and participate in a number of exciting and educational activities. Upon completion of the day’s activities, all participants will earn the event patch (a prerequisite worksheet is required, though).

By the way, nuclear science may one day help us get to the stars faster! Think antimatter rockets!!!

And one more thing: this event is FREE!

This Winter-themed Camp-O-Ree is COOL, man! Join your fellow Scouts for a fun weekend in and on the snow!

Featured events include – Sled Race, Jumbo Ski, Snowshoe Relay, Spear Throw, Fire Building, Snowball Toss, Ice Rescue, and Moon Ball

Mount Hermon 2016 – Climb through the trees!

On February 27, the troop is scheduled to participate in the Mt. Hermon Adventure Course in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Push yourself to conquer 14 different activities, including swinging logs, cargo nets, and cables set 30 to 80 feet in the air! The course ends with a thrilling set of zip lines. Multiple self-guided options combine solo and partner balance elements, focusing on challenge, fun, and group interaction. Cost will be approximately $55 and Scouts must be 10 years or older, 57 inches tall and at least 75 pounds (no more than 250 lbs) Time will be approximately 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. We will leave from Sandpiper and boys will need lunches, water, appropriate clothing and ten essentials. We will need drivers. Adults can participate as well..we have 20 – 24 spots available.

Family Snow Camp!


The snow is here and we are offering Troop families a chance to join together for a winter weekend at Camp Sylvester near Dodge Ridge in Pinecrest, California. No worries – this is not snow shelter camping, we will sharing heated camp cabins and a kitchen! (still need sleeping bags & pads for the bunk beds) We will leave Friday night and return Sunday afternoon. We will share a Troop dinner on Saturday night, and Troop breakfast Sunday morning. Families are responsible for other meals, although we could coordinate as we finalize reservations — lots of flexibility! Dodge Ridge is nearby for Skiing and Snowboarding, and there are plenty of areas for snow play and sledding. Lodging is $50 per person; meals cost TBD depending on plans.

Dec 3 – Troop Meeting. Bring a new unwrapped toy or book to donate to the RWC & San Mateo County Toy & Book Drive. Toys and books will be collected at the beginning of the Troop meeting and Redwood City Fire Department will collect.

Dec 12 – Mt. Tamalpias hike.

Dec 14 – Wrapping Party. Join T61 and various community associations for gift “wrapping party” at Red Morton Community Center, 1120 Roosevelt Avenue,

Dec 17 – Troop Meeting. Movie night! (VOTE FOR YOUR MOVIE)

September 2015

  • Sept 10 – Troop Meeting @ RWS Elementary. Summer recap, review major activities planned for the year, decide on 4 summer camps that will be voted on for 2016. Flag & drill.
  • Sept 12 – Lake Chabot campout
  • Sept 17 – Advancement meeting. Last one before October CoH. Please register and indicate what you are coming for.
  • Sept 18 – Scout-a-palooza. Sandpiper School. Assist with activities for Pack 61. Please register.
  • Sept 24 – Troop Meeting. Drill part 2 & drill competition.

We have only one Advancement and one Troop meeting this month due to Summer Camp.

– Advancement meeting is 7/16 at Sandpiper
– Troop meeting is 7/23 also at Sandpiper (class B)


If attending summer camp, please be at Redwood Shores Elementary @ 2:15AM on Sunday July 5.
Registration is now open for the August Yosemite trip (backpakers & non-backpackers). We need more adults (ASMs) to register for the non-backpacking group.


June 4 – Troop Meeting @ RWS Elementary (First Aid instruction).

June 13 – Advancement camp-out focused on Tenderfoot to First Class skills. Please register.

June 18 – Advancement @ Sandpiper on the lunch tables. If you have any rank requirements you want to complete before summer, this is your last chance. BRING YOUR BOOK! Register.

June 25 – Troop meeting @ Sandpiper. PLC has decided that this will be an “active” meeting. Full field Capture the Flag on the Sandpiper field. Wear class B. Informal CoH for rank only at the end. Will probably end at 8:30PM
