Join us for a one day kick off for the Camping Merit Badge.

Runs in parallel with the Advancement Meeting.

If you are attending both events, please let the Advancement Chair know that you will be attending the Camping Merit Badge class too.

Your Camping Merit Badge Counselors,
ASM Joe C., ASM Kathleen, and ASM John

Note that you will not be able to complete the Camping merit badge in one day.  This is just a one day kickoff.

Here is  ASM Joe C’s email announcement:

The Camping Merit badge is one of the most prestigious in all of scouting.
Not to mention it’s Eagle required and one of the 57 original Merit Badges.
One of the more challenging requirements for this Merit Badge is the 20 night camping requirement.
Scouts must complete 20 nights of camping at a scouting activity or event.
Only one long term (summer) camp can count towards this requirement.

ASMs Joe, John, and Kathleen will be teaching the knowledge portion of the Camping Merit Badge at the Thursday April 18 Advancement meeting.
By participating in this Advancement/Merit Badge session, you will fulfill a portion of the knowledge requirement for this Merit Badge.
Scouts who are interested in participating should register on the website ( http://rwstroop61.org/activity/camping-merit-badge-one-day/ ).
Blue Cards & workbooks will be provided at the meeting.

We will have a follow-up session after you have completed your 20 nights to complete remaining requirements and you will then earn this Merit Badge.

Requirements for the Camping Merit Badge can be found here: http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Camping.

The workbook is available here: http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Camping.pdf

If you plan to attend, please DO get the merit badge book for this requirement and READ as much as you can in advance of the meeting.  Bring the book to the meeting. We will start promptly at 7:00 and run till 8:30PM.
