Pack 61 Cub Scout Fun
Scout-A-Palooza 

Cub Scout Pack 61 needs Boy Scouts to help run FOUR Stations on Friday, September 16, 2016, from 7:00PM-8:30PM at Sandpiper Community Center.    Cut scouts will rotate through 4 stations (see below) in 15-minute increments.   If you are able to help, please register below and indicate in the comment section, what station number or name you will be working on:

STATION 1: KNOT TYING STATION
Materials: ASM Jay will bring rope

  • Tie an Overhand Knot & Square Knot (Wolf)
  • Tie a Bowline Knot and explain use and why (Webelos) – Note: Webelos will teach this with help from Boy Scouts
  • Time permitting: Two Half Hitches, Taut-Line Hitch Know and explain who each know is used (AOL)

STATION 2: FIRST AID STATION (COVER SOME OF THESE)
Materials: Boy Scouts bring your First Aid Kit

  • Explain what is First Aid is and what you should do after an accident (Webelos/AOL)
  • Show what to do for the hurry cases of first aid (Serious bleeding, Heart attack or sudden cardiac arrest, Stopped breathing, Stroke, Poisoning)
  • Show how to help a choking victim.
  • Show how to treat for shock.
  • Demonstrate that you know how to treat the following (Cuts and scratches, Burns and scalds. Sunburn, Blisters on the hand and foot, Tick bites, Bites and stings of other insects, Venomous snakebite, Nosebleed, Frostbite)

STATION 3: WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS CAMPSITE
Materials: CM Jim will provide tents and camping items.   Boy Scouts should bring a few items that belong on a campout, as well as those that don’t (please label your stuff)
Handout: CM Jim will provide a handout to give the cub scouts on what they need to bring for the November campout
Setup a campsite and play a game with the cub scouts on what should go on a campout and what shouldn’t

STATION 4: SIX ESSENTIAL RELAY
Materials: ASM Todd Irwin will run this station and bring a bunch of items. Boy Scouts bring your 10 essentials.
Handout: CM Jim will provide a six essential handout to give the cub scouts on what they need to bring for the November campout
Note the difference between Cub Scout and Boy Scout Essentials:

  1. First Aid KitW
  2. Water Bottle
  3. Flashlight
  4. Trail Food
  5. Sun Protection
  6. Whistle
  7. Pocket Knife**
  8. Extra Clothing**
  9. Rain Gear**
  10. Matches**
  11. Trail Map & Compass**
