Memorial Day Flag Planting

Saturday May 26 2018 / 08:15 AM - Saturday May 26 2018 / 12:00 PM

San Bruno, CA

Event Contact: Kathleen Foster:
Event Location: Golden Gate National Cemetery 1300 Sneath Lane San Bruno, CA

As Scouts, we have the honored task of decorating the grave stones of our fallen veterans in celebration of Memorial Day. Open Ceremonies begin promptly at 8:30AM. Kathleen will check-in and be assigned our spot within the cemetery to plant flags upon each grave. Boys will be in small groups and share a poker to help position the flag properly.
Scouts need to be in full uniform. It is recommended to arrive early,  8AM, as there are 100s of people so you need time to find the group. You will also need to bring bottled water as there is not potable water on premise at all.

Donuts and Juice will be provided. This counts toward service hours.
If you would like a patch, please RSVP below before Wednesday, May 9th at 6pm. Otherwise, Registration ends on Thursday, May 24th at 6pm.
You can also check out the headstones of some famous people buried at the Golden Gate National Cemetery:
Meeting Spot: On Circle Drive, as you face the “stage” the big Flagpole at the top of the circle and sections 2C, X behind you. Meet in front of the RIGHT speaker. Look for the neon poster sign with Troop 61 on it.
