Update on Troop 61 Meetings & Activities

Leadership Positions Appointed

Please see the following Google Sheet for appointed positions.
These changes to leadership positions are effective immediately.

Virtual Campfire update

The virtual campfire is on FRIDAY, APRIL 10 at 20:00 (8 pm).

Leadership position update

After a discussion in the PLC meeting on April 5, 2020, PLC has decided to suspend all PL elections (PLs would continue doing their jobs) and move forward with appointed leadership positions.
As a result, I, ASPL, will prioritize those that are IN NEED of a leadership position first before moving on to those that aren’t.

If you are in need of a leadership position or have not been interviewed on February 27, 2020, please email me (Ethan) and Liam (SPL).

Thank you.

Update on April 1, 2020

**Not an April Fools Day joke

Hello Troop 61 Scouts & Families,
Unfortunately we will not be able to meet in person in the near future, however the troop leaders are holding virtual meetings to plan ways we can continue to take part in scouting activities.  The following are planned:

1. April 5 – PLC from 5-7pm
For all those involved in PLC, SPL Liam will send out the details for the virtual Zoom meeting.

2. April 6 – Completion of Personal Management MB from 6-7pm
ASM Kathleen will be reaching out via email to provide details to those involved.

3. April 9 April 10 – Virtual Troop Campfire
The troop will hold a virtual campfire beginning at 8PM.  Zoom meeting details will be emailed out closer to the meeting date.  Both scouts and their families are invited to attend and participate.

4. April 16 – Advancement Meeting
Please register online via the troop website as usual.  Registration will close on April 13.  You will be contacted with your meeting time information.

5. We are working on being able to offer and host additional MB classes soon.  Please contact Trish Jung if you are willing and able to counsel any MBs.

Unfortunately, some events had to be postponed or cancelled:

– Castle Rock backpacking campout

– Flood Park 10th Anniversary Picnic

Original message on March 9, 2020

As of March 12, the troop’s use permit for the rooms used to hold our troop meetings at Sandpiper school has been suspended.  This will be in effect through April 5th at which time the district will re-evaluate the situation.

The troop adult leaders decided to postpone all meetings and activities until at least April 5th. Once the troop is able to resume meetings at the regular location, more information will be provided about rescheduling the planned events.

Wishing you all good health!
