Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 61 Based in Redwood Shores, CA. We meet twice a month at Redwood Shores Elementary School. Our aim is to provide a safe and challenging learning environment for your son through the methods and ideals of the Boy Scouts of America. Hello Scouters. We have the following planned for April: April 12 – Patrol Leader review of Clove Hitch and Timber Hitch. Lashing Stations: Round Lashing, Shear Lashing, Square Lashing. Putting together a fire starting kit for your backpack (pt 1). Scouts to get list of items to bring to next meeting. 
Alps Mountaineering offers a substantial discount on camping equipment to scouters. Summer camp is approaching and although the troop will be providing tents, your scout may need additional gear. If you are in the market for a backpack, sleeping mat, or sleeping bag, be sure to check out their products. March 8 we will be preparing for out Pinnacles camping trip by planning our meals and our hike. We will also be playing a hide and seek game involving knots … be sure you know your basic knots … you will get a chance to practice them. March 15 will be a regular “advancement” meeting. Be sure to register if you plan to attend for a Scout Master conference or Board of Review. March 22 we will hold a quick Court of Honor. We will also play another game outside called the log game where you will again get to practice some knot skills. Camping March 23. |
