Appointed Positions application

Hi, Troop 61,

As you all know, the SPL election is now coming up in less than two weeks. This means that it is also time for appointed positions to be changed as well. It is worth noting that PLC has discussed and agreed that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many scouts were unable to serve their appointed positions, or fully execute their duties. Scoutmaster Joel has guaranteed that all Scouts that were serving in their positions actively before the pandemic would get their leadership time. However, starting this term, there will be a more limited number of positions that are available to all scouts.SPL Liam and I have sorted through and determined that some positions cannot be served while we are all in quarantine. Therefore, we will prioritize those that require leadership time first. Thank you for your understanding.

Troop 61 Restart Plan

As the troop moves toward holding in person events, activities will initially be selected that lend themselves for best maintaining protocols that mitigate COVID-19 exposure.  The activities will have limits as to the number of participants to enable a manageable group size.  Activities may be repeated to enable a larger number of scouts from the troop to participate.  Scouts will initially be requested to participate in activities with at least one parent in attendance.

During the initial restart of in person activities:
– events will be limited to outdoors
– everyone present at a troop event (scout, leader, parent, sibling, etc.) will be required to have an updated BSA Annual Medical form Parts A&B on file with the troop.  Medical forms will be required to be on hand at all troop events for each individual present.  Forms will be reviewed by a designated registered troop leader to identify those with potential health risks.  High risk individuals are discouraged from participating in troop events in the near term.

– the troop will NOT coordinate carpools to events
– troop equipment will NOT be used
– food will . . . → Read More: “Return To Scouting”

Virtual Campfire update

The virtual campfire is on FRIDAY, APRIL 10 at 20:00 (8 pm).

Leadership position update

After a discussion in the PLC meeting on April 5, 2020, PLC has decided to suspend all PL elections (PLs would continue doing their jobs) and move forward with appointed leadership positions.
As a result, I, ASPL, will prioritize those that are IN NEED of a leadership position first before moving on to those that aren’t.

If you are in need of a leadership position or have not been interviewed on February 27, 2020, please email me (Ethan) and Liam (SPL).

Thank you.
