Welcome

Welcome to Boy Scout Troop 61 Based in Redwood Shores, CA.

We meet twice a month at Redwood Shores Elementary School.  Our aim is to provide a safe and challenging learning environment for your son through the methods and ideals of the Boy Scouts of America. We will build character, foster friendships, and nurture citizenship through a dynamic outdoor program that challenges the boys to live by the Scout Oath and Law.

May 16 – Music and Bugling Merit Badge at Sandpiper Elective A&B – Middle School Building

  • Come join ASM John to kickoff or even earn your Music Merit Badge! Or
  • Come join ASM John to kickoff your Bugling Merit badge: One of the original 57 Merit Badges, and one of the rarest merit badges to be earned by any scout. No previous music experience is needed. If you have a bugle, trumpet, or coronet, please bring it.

May 18, 2019 – Harvey Bear Ranch Campout

  • Join us on a local overnight camping trip. We will leave Saturday morning on May 18, and return before noon on May 19. We will also enjoy a moderate hike in the area to a rare serpentine habitat with stunning wildflowers in Spring. Serpentine in one of the rarest habitats in California.

April 18 – Camping Merit Badge (One Day Kickoff) at Sandpiper Elective A&B – Middle School Building

  • ASMs Joe, John, and Kathleen will be teaching the knowledge portion of the Camping Merit Badge at the Thursday April 18 Advancement meeting. 
  • By participating in this Advancement/Merit Badge session, you will fulfill a portion of the knowledge requirement for this Merit Badge.
  • Scouts who are interested in participating should register on the website.

March 16 – San Bruno Mountain Park Planting at San Bruno Mountain Park, 555 Guadalupe Canyon Pkwy, San Bruno

  • The San Mateo County park is looking for help to do some planting at San Bruno Mountain Park. This is a conservation service project to help boys meet their requirements. Please print and bring this volunteer agreement with you

March  17 – Second Class Fire Requirements at Marlin Park, Neptune Dr & Cringle Dr, Redwood City 

March 21 – Advancement Meeting at Sandpiper Elective A&B – Middle School Building

March 23  – Point Reyes – Intro to Backpacking at Point Reyes National Seashore, 1 Bear Valley Road, Point Reyes Station

  • Scouts will hike about six miles (moderate) into Point Reyes National Park to Wildcat campground, setup camp and spend the night before heading back on the same route.
